23 Native Trees Planted at City of Hope

In October 2024, we had the honor of partnering with City of Hope to plant 23 native trees on their beautiful campus, which borders the San Gabriel River and the Santa Fe Dam. This effort was part of our ongoing mission to restore native habitats and support biodiversity in the foothill region.

We planted a carefully selected mix of native species, each chosen for its ecological value and ability to thrive in the local environment.

The planting included:

  • 6 Coast Live Oaks (Quercus agrifolia)

  • 5 Engelmann Oaks (Quercus engelmannii)

  • 10 Valley Oaks (Quercus lobata)

  • 2 Toyons (Heteromeles arbutifolia)

These trees will provide vital shelter and food for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife while also contributing to shade, improved soil health, and long-term carbon storage. As they grow, they will help reconnect fragmented habitat along this critical ecological corridor near the river and dam.

We’re grateful to City of Hope for leading by example and demonstrating how institutions can integrate native landscapes into their campuses. Their commitment to sustainability and ecological stewardship makes a lasting impact, not only on their grounds, but on the health of the broader environment we all share.

This planting is a powerful reminder that restoring nature can happen one tree at a time, and one partnership at a time!
