We need your support to help Steven Xie, a local Scout working toward his Eagle rank, complete a project that will leave a lasting legacy in Monrovia: planting 500 shade trees across our city.

Why Monrovia Needs Trees
Monrovia’s tree canopy is unevenly distributed. Below Foothill Boulevard, canopy coverage falls under 12%, leaving many neighborhoods exposed to extreme heat, poor air quality, and limited shade.

Planting trees in these areas—especially along our busiest streets—will:

• Provide shade for pedestrians, making walking and shopping more comfortable

• Improve walkability and access to local businesses

• Offer habitat for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife

• Help cool neighborhoods, reducing heat-related health risks

• Enhance community safety by encouraging more people to be out walking

• Beautify our main corridors, supporting local pride and economic vitality
   

How the Project Works
Steven is partnering with Grow Monrovia, a local nonprofit dedicated to community greening and environmental equity. Together, we will distribute free trees to residents and property owners along Monrovia’s main streets. We’ll also provide planting support to ensure these trees thrive.
 

How You Can Help
We’re inviting community residents and businesses to sponsor trees and help make this vision a reality. $150 sponsors one tree, covering the cost of the tree, materials, and planting.
